Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and Right to Information

Internal Affairs Unit (IAU)

An Internal Affairs Unit has been established within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism in line with the “New Procedure of Establishing an Internal Affairs Unit in all Public Institutions.” This initiative has been jointly introduced by the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption under the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023.

The establishment of this unit marks an important step in strengthening integrity, accountability, and transparency within the Ministry. It provides a structured mechanism to address anomalies, corruption, and misconduct, ensuring that public service delivery remains fair and trustworthy.

Employees and stakeholders are encouraged to report any information or complaints related to irregularities, corruption, or allegations within the Ministry. Reports can be submitted either anonymously or with the identity of the complainant, depending on the preference of the individual.

The Internal Affairs Unit is located on the premises of the Ministry and is accessible to all. By creating this channel, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to upholding ethical standards and fostering a culture of accountability in line with national anti-corruption efforts.
