Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism
Foreign employment sector plays a pivotal role in the economic development of Sri Lanka. Remittances by migrant workers is the country’s foremost foreign exchange source. The Ministry is dedicated to create and implement policies related to gainful foreign employment to Sri Lankans, to ensure the rights of migrant workers and to provide their welfare needs. As per the National Policy Framework: Vistas of prosperity and Splendour of the government, the Ministry is functioning to create a skilled employee force, promote foreign employment opportunities diversifying the foreign employment market and welfare and protection of the migrant workers. The Ministry continuously expands its services and facilities to seek more foreign employment opportunities to gain more foreign exchange to the country while providing a higher contribution to the whole economy.
